EGGERT'S SUNFLOWER

BROADLEAF BARBARA'S BUTTONS

LARGE-LEAVED GRASS OF PARNASSUS
The Tennessee Division of Natural Heritage and The Nature Conservancy's Southeast Region botanist, Milo Pyne, has significantly aided the Trust's biologists in their extensive plant species inventories and the crucial search for rare plants and threatened habitats.
Within these delicate seep habitats, we've documented the presence of rare plants such as Parnassia grandifolia (Large-leaved Grass-of-Parnassus) and Juncus brachycephalus (Small-headed Rush). Further discoveries include Helianthus eggertii (Eggert's Sunflower) in several creekside locations, isolated populations of Lilium michiganense (Michigan Lily), and a half-mile stretch of Marshallia trinervia (Broad-leaved Barbara's Buttons) along Big Swan Creek.
This region also boasts a remarkable diversity of other wildflowers, ferns, shrubs, and trees, all meticulously documented by our team.
