Join members of Swan Trust and Tennessee Scenic Rivers
Association for a late winter/early spring tour of this protected forest,
bottomland fields restored in native grasses, and pristine headwater
streams. Meet at The Farm Welcome

April 26 – Spring Wildflower Hike on Bass Property
Swan Trust member, Warner Bass, has given permission to hike
on his land on Big Swan Creek in Lewis
County. Botanist Andrea Bishop will lead us on the
“Three Waterfalls Trail” through mature woodlands, identifying wildflowers
characteristic of the Western Highland Rim.
Meet at the old Gordonsburg Church of Christ on Highway 412 east of
Hohenwald at 1:00 p.m.

May 9 – Discover Big Swan Headwaters Preserve Day
Join us to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Big Swan
Headwaters Preserve! Spring wildflowers,
trees, and shrubs will be in peak bloom as we stroll the streamsides – fringe
tree, mock orange, and snowbells are a few that will amaze you. The hike will be followed by a dinner fundraiser
with entertainment, so bring a change of clothes and dry shoes. Meet at The Farm Community Center
at 2:00 p.m.

June 14 – Hike the Highland Woods Preserve
Swan Trust’s first protected land is a 100-acre forest in
the headwaters of Big Bigby Creek. Hike
with us to the railroad overlook, then along a tributary to the mini-rockhouse
feature, and appreciate mature woodlands of this remote Preserve. Meet at The Farm Welcome
Center at 1:00 p.m.

August 9 – Buffalo
River Canoe Trip
Cool off from the summer heat with our annual canoe trip on
the remote and beautiful upper Buffalo
River. We will meet at the canoe rental at 11:00
a.m. Expect to be on the river 4-5

September 12 – Mound Bottom and Narrows of the
Harpeth Canoe Trip
Surprise! Another canoe trip, full of history and scenic
beauty. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at
Foggy Bottom Canoe rental at the bridge over the Harpeth River
on US 70 near Kingston Springs. We will
canoe to and tour Mound Bottom State Archaeological Area, Mace Bluff, and take
out at Narrows of the Harpeth. Expect to be on the trip 5-6
hours.
